Dan Dyer's "Singing River Sessions" out TODAY!
We could tell you a lot about this release, but how about you hear it straight from the horse's mouth:
In 2013, Dan traveled to Florence Alabama with his baseball team, The Texas Playboys, to barnstorm the Alabama Slammers (a team created by designers Natalie Chanin and Billy Reid). While on the field, he met Will Trapp, a dude who along with John Paul White (of the Civil Wars) and Ben Tanner (of the Alabama Shakes) had newly formed a record label called Single Lock Records - based in Florence, Alabama...one of four cities that makes up the Shoals (as in Muscle Shoals...of recording history). The two hit it off and made plans to record some music on Dan's next trip back to Bama.
A few months later, Will and Dan held true to their word and Dan made the drive back to spend time in the studio with Single Lock. The Singing River Sessions were recorded over 2 days at The Nutthouse in Sheffield, Alabama with a motley group of musicians from the area who happened to be in town at the right time for Dan (including Bryan Farris, Zac Cockrell and Chad Gamble). That's part of the beauty of music in The Shoals...you never know who might be in town, available and psyched to spend time in the studio...the guys at Single Lock are keeping that culture alive and you can hear it's benefit on Dan's Singing River Sessions.
This is the first formal offering of new music from Dan in several years (hmmmm...7 to be exact) and he's proud to be sending this out into the universe under the Single Lock umbrella. It's also what we hope to be the tip of the iceberg in new music headed your way (another recording is well on its way to coming out early next year)...but for now enjoy The Singing River Sessions. The physical album can be purchased at Dan's store online or any of his shows...and the digital download is available on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon....
peace.
Give it a listen today... it's a digital release for us, but if you see him in concert you can grab a physical copy for yourself!
