PS is the musical offspring and formal debut of a partnership between vocalist Shanay Johnson and keyboardist Paul Horton, two celebrated musicians and touring members of Alabama Shakes and Brittany Howard’s band.
Shanay and Paul first connected on tour with the Shakes and became fast friends and collaborators, leading to a single that defies categorization– which is exactly what you should expect. In addition to touring with the Shakes and collaborating as musician and composer on Brittany Howard’s solo work, Paul has made his mark as a member of the modern jazz combo Concurrence and via his own solo compositions and productions under the moniker No Stress.
Shanay is a sought-after background and session vocalist. In addition to touring with Alabama Shakes, Brittany Howard, and Emily King, her latest chapter has been as a featured background vocalist touring with rock legend Roger Waters.
After years as collaborators and side musicians, PS represents Shanay and Paul’s step into the front with their songs and voices, presenting a unique, modern blend of R&B, jazz, and hip-hop.
